Areas to Support
Through the Appleton Medical Center Foundation you are able to choose from several ways in which your gift will be used to support the hospital. You may designate your gift to a particular area or provide the Foundation with the authority to address the area of greatest need. The Foundation has two types of funds designed to meet your needs:
- Restricted Funds designate your donation to a particular need. To learn more about these opportunities, please see the list below.
- Endowed Named Funds are permanent named funds that carry on in perpetuity providing support now and for generations to come. Donors may establish endowed named funds to be administered to support a particular Hospital program or initiative with a gift of $10,000 or more, payable over three-to-five years. To establish an endowment fund, please call the Foundation (920) 738-6503 or e-mail AMCFoundation@thedacare.org.
Appleton Medical Center Foundation Funds
Area of Greatest Need
Giving to Appleton Medical Center Foundation’s Area of Greatest Need Fund is one of the most valuable gifts you can make to support our patients and families. Contributions to this fund will be put to valuable use where the need is greatest need.
Anti-Nausea Cancer Fund
This fund offers support to patients who have exhausted all other resources to obtain their medications. Having access to the right anti-nausea drugs to combat the side effects of chemotherapy can make an incredible difference in their physical comfort.
The Breast Center provides breast health information and state-of-the-art screening and diagnostic services. Your gift will help support early detection and breast health.
The Martha Siekman Cancer Center provides sophisticated medical care in a comfortable, homelike setting. It is also home to the ThedaCare Cancer Institute’s state-of-the-art radiation treatment and full range of cancer care services.
Capes of Hope
Fleece capes offer comfort and warmth to women receiving radiation treatments in their fight against cancer. The capes are designed to lift the spirits of those who wear them as they wait for treatment or go between rooms in the Cancer Center. One patient shared, “I feel like someone is putting their arms around me each time I wear it.” This Fund offsets the costs associated with providing this service.
Cardiac Rehabilitation/Healing Hearts Fund
Cardiac rehabilitation is essential to cardiac patients following cardiac events. This Fund supports cardiac rehabilitation for patients without sufficient insurance coverage or financial means to utilize these services following a heart incident.
This fund supports the costs associated with diagnostic equipment, surgical instruments, related equipment and patient comforts for the treatment, care and education of cardiology patients.
The Fox Valley Children’s Fund supports projects and initiative for local children. Your gift can provide support for ongoing treatments for diabetes and cancer, lifestyle changes including obesity, asthma, sports related injuries; as well as specialized equipment and training.
The Family Center at Appleton Medical Center offers beautiful home-like birthing suites that allow you to welcome your new baby in a private, comfortable suite. There is a Level II Special Care Nursery located on the Appleton Medical Center Family Birth Center.
For a patient’s loved ones who do not have a place to stay in the area, the Appleton Medical Center Foundation offers the AMC Guest House as a place for respite. For a small donation, families are able to stay close to their loved ones.
Intensive Care Unit
This unit provides care for trauma, post-operative and cardiology patients who require an intensive or high level of medical care and intervention. Your gift will support new equipment, furnishings, and upgrades to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Martha Siekman Cancer Center Care Support
Whether it’s transportation or a gas card for an appointment or treatment, or phone cards to keep loved ones up-to-date, this fund attempts to relieve stress for those patients in need. Administered by the patient navigator team, the fund also offers support groups and options for second opinions.
Martha Siekman Cancer Center Cosmetology Support
Cosmetology services help support the emotional challenges that come with hair loss often associated with chemotherapy. The fund provides for assistance in the selection of wigs and headwear, as well as consultations on skin care and make up.
Appleton Medical Center Family Center provides a full range of support services to ensure that you get the care you and your baby need when you want and need it. Services include childbirth and child care educational classes, prenatal breast feeding classes, “Great Expectations” educational book, lactation services, post-delivery support groups, and the “Remembering Through Sharing” program.
Medical oncology is the specialty of medicine that relates to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cancer patients.
