Despite this winter’s prolonged below normal temperatures, construction of the new ThedaCare Medical Center- Shawano continues to progress. That progress can be seen in two different areas.
First, the main structure of the addition is becoming more visible because steel erection is about 70% complete. Steel erection is still expected to be finished by the end of March. The second area where progress can be seen is in the new utility yard on the south side of the existing clinic. Over the past month, equipment has started arriving on site; the new generators, transformers and cooling tower that will serve the building have been set in place.
Spring is right around the corner and hopefully construction-friendly weather conditions are as well. In the next couple of months the building enclosure will start to take shape as the exterior walls will be framed, the roof will be installed, and the concrete slabs will be poured. By mid-May portions, of the addition should be watertight and masonry work will be starting on the exterior walls.
