Enjoy a Sampling of Exercises to Promote Healthy Lifestyle

Exercise plays an important role in the overall health of an individual. A program at the Waupaca Recreation Center seeks to introduce a variety of exercises most anyone can do.

“Diabetes and Exercise: Let’s Move!” will be at 6:30 p.m., Thurs., April 19, in the exercise room at the Waupaca Recreation Center, 407 School St. Although the program is for diabetes support and education, anyone can attend and benefit.

“Exercise is a key component of a healthy lifestyle to help prevent and control diabetes,” said Beckie Crisman, certified diabetes educator at Riverside Medical Center (RMC). “It also promotes heart health and weight loss and overall well being.”

During this free program, participants will sample exercises like Tai Chi, Zumba, general toning exercises, Yoga, and aerobic exercise. “This program will give you ideas to how to choose a routine that that fits your lifestyle and ability,” said Crisman.

The exercises can be done at home or through group programs. “We will explore the many community options for exercise from the rec center to local fitness centers and even at RMC,” said Crisman.

Each person must register separately for this program. To register, call (715) 258-1119 or visit www.thedacare.org.
