Program Addresses Runners' Foot, Ankle Pain

Medical Expert to Discuss Symptoms, Treatments at Appleton Presentation

Runners plagued by recurring foot and ankle pain can learn about options for managing sports training injuries at a free presentation, “Up and Running: Foot Fitness for Runners,” led by Timothy Tougas, DPM, of NEW Foot & Ankle Associates.

Dr. Tougas will share an in-depth look at the bio- mechanics of the foot and how it affects the body’s lower extremities. He will also discuss how to choose appropriate foot wear and shoe inserts specific to a runner’s needs as well as review other more invasive treatment options for foot and ankle conditions.

People affected by sports-related foot and ankle pain can learn how pushing through the pain without learning what can be done to ease it can only make things worse.

This free community program begins at 6:30 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 18, in the Maplewood Room at Appleton Medical Center.
