Hospital Recognized for Improving Standard of Care Provided to Patients
Shawano Medical Center’s programs to help cardiovascular and pulmonary patients recover more quickly have earned national recognition.
The American Association of Cardiovascular Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) accredited Shawano Medical Center’s cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs that help patients with cardiovascular problems, including heart attacks, and pulmonary problems, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, recover faster and improve their quality of life. Both programs include exercise, education, counseling, and support for patients and their families.
“Obtaining certification for our cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs just confirmed what we and our patients already knew. We are a very dedicated group of healthcare providers who are passionate about delivering quality care to the community,” said Kathy Kilboy, pulmonary rehabilitation coordinator. “Receiving national accreditation for meeting ‘standards of excellence’ is only icing on the cake.”
The Shawano Medical Center cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs participated in the one month application process. The AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer-reviewed accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by the AACVPR and other professional societies. Certified AACVPR programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available. The program certification is valid for three years.
