ThedaCare Joins Health Payment Systems Provider Network

Hospitals, Physicians Included in Simple Monthly Statement

Health Payment Systems, Inc. (HPS), a Milwaukee-based healthcare company that simplifies the healthcare payment experience for patients, providers and employers, has added ThedaCare’s five hospitals and physician group to its growing network.

The new relationship provides patients with a simple, clear monthly statement that includes all healthcare charges for the entire family. The HPS statement, called the Super EOB, helps patients better understand their overall healthcare costs and better manage their healthcare decisions.

“Our simple process allows providers like ThedaCare to focus on their core competency of delivering quality health care, and allows employers to better manage healthcare costs,” explained HPS Executive Vice President Jay Fulkerson. “Our goal is to help improve the overall cost and quality of healthcare.”

With the addition of ThedaCare, the HPS provider network in Northeastern Wisconsin includes more than 55 diverse healthcare practitioners. That network now includes all five of ThedaCare’s hospitals – Appleton Medical Center, Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, New London Family Medical Center, Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca and Shawano Medical Center. It also includes ThedaCare Physicians’ 22 area clinics, ThedaCare At Home, ThedaCare Behavioral Health, ThedaCare Orthopedics Plus, ThedaCare Hospice, ThedaCare FastCare and Peabody Manor.

“We believe HPS’ approach to healthcare billing aligns with our goals of continuously improving the patient experience,” said Bill Mann, senior vice president at ThedaCare. “We anticipate that the HPS Single Payment model will assist us in improving our system’s efficiency, and the HPS patented Super EOB will help reduce patient frustration with complex medical bills. We’re pleased to form this partnership on behalf of our patients.”

ThedaCare patients whose employers purchase the HPS product started receiving the Super EOB Aug. 1. The monthly statement includes all healthcare providers in the HPS network who rendered services to the family, including ThedaCare.

The unique HPS process not only helps consumers simplify their payment experience, it also helps providers and employers. One of the most frustrating challenges for providers is receipt of payment from two sources, the patient and the benefit plan, at two different times. HPS simplifies that process and pays the provider in one, single payment.

Employers also experience frustrations with high health care costs. Because providers offer HPS attractive pricing in return for the single payment, HPS passes along those savings to employers.
