The Rural Health Initiative will be in the spotlight at the 8th Annual Wine & Cheese Tasting from 7-10 p.m. on Fri., Feb. 10, at the Shawano County Park Pavilion, W5785 Lake Drive, Shawano.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sample 60 kinds of wine and 30 different types of cheeses while listening to entertainment provided by Aspen Jazz. The event includes a silent auction and a raffle drawing at 9 p.m. featuring a variety of prizes including airline tickets, a 42-inch flat screen TV, cash and more.
Money raised at the event will go to the Rural Health Initiative, which brings basic health education and screening to the farm. In Shawano County, the Rural Health Initiative serves 325 farm families or about 40 percent of the county’s total farm families. The initiative recently expanded and now also serves farm families in Outagamie and Waupaca counties.
Tickets for the Wine & Cheese Tasting are $25 each. They can be purchased in advance by contacting Rhonda Strebel at (715) 524-1488, at WTCH radio station or at the door.
