Coronary Health Improvement Project (CHIP) - Kimberly

For those wishing they could lead a healthier lifestyle, the Kimberly Area School District is hosting a seven-week class designed to motivate and educate participants along that path.

Beginning Mon., April 16, we will offer the “Coronary Health Improvement Project,” known as
“CHIP,” a lifestyle intervention program designed to help people improve their health, lose weight and lower their cholesterol, glucose and triglyceride levels.

The CHIP program, offered by ThedaCare At Work, a division of ThedaCare, helps people reverse diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, hypertension and high cholesterol in seven weeks. People who have successfully completed CHIP lowered their cholesterol by 10 to 20 percent on average, lost an average of 9 pounds and improved their glucose and triglyceride levels. Some participants were also able to reduce their use of medications after consulting with their personal physician.

Attendees will hear motivational messages, learn lifestyle changing skills and experience peer support in the series of 17 two-hour classes over the seven-week time period, which finishes May 31. Reading assignments and class discussion reinforce the messages and help ensure successful transition to a healthier lifestyle.

The cost is $450 per person. Spouses who register together and share materials will receive a discount: $450 for first person and $250 for spouse.
