FREE COMMUNITY DIABETES EXPO ON NOV. 12

Affinity Health System, Network Health Plan, ThedaCare and Walgreens sponsor free community diabetes expo

Affinity Health System, Network Health Plan, ThedaCare and Walgreens are sponsoring a free community diabetes expo on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 7 a.m. to noon at the Liberty Hall and Conference Center, 800 Eisenhower Dr., Kimberly.

The expo features diabetes-friendly recipes, a cooking demonstration by Chef Jeff of Fox Valley Technical College and community talks by Juan Albino, M.D. from The Neuroscience Group of Northeast Wisconsin and Ruth Charne, A1C Champion Speaker. There will also be free consultations including blood glucose testing, blood pressure testing, eye exams and foot exams.

"We brought together these community healthcare organizations to support people affected with diabetes in our community," said Lori Hartz, manager of diabetes education for ThedaCare and the emcee for the event. "Because diabetes is complicated and can be confusing, we would like our community to know what resources are available to them. We want to empower them to manage diabetes. Anyone with diabetes can lead a healthy productive life – it just needs to be managed."

Reservations are required for this free event. To register, call Affinity NurseDirect at (920) 738-2230 in the Fox Cities or (920) 231-6578 in Oshkosh.
