End-of-Life Decisions

Dignity and Comfort During the End-of-Life Journey

Unfortunately, the reality of cancer is that sometimes, it can’t be cured. When your cancer, or that of a loved one’s, is too hard to beat, take comfort that the final days can be spent peacefully.

ThedaCare Hospice Care

Hospice care is available to patients who’ve been given a terminal diagnosis, which means they have six months or less to live. It can greatly add to the quality of life for both the patient and their family, allowing them to spend precious time together, without pain or suffering, until the very end.

You can receive hospice care in your home with the help of a caregiver (typically a family member or friend) and skilled nursing support.

Or, you can receive hospice care in one of ThedaCare’s two hospice residences, Cherry Meadows, which offers round-the-clock inpatient care, and ThedaCare Hospice Residence, which provides a slightly more independent living experience. Whichever setting you choose, compassionate hospice workers and volunteers will be present to support your entire family.
