Obesity is the result of a high weight-to-height ratio, or body mass index (BMI). Being categorized as "morbidly obese" means you meet one of the following definitions:

  • You have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher, and you are at least 100 pounds overweight, OR
  • You have a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher, with significant comorbidities and failed dietary attempts to control weight. Comorbidities are related, negative health conditions.

Why Obesity Is Dangerous

These multiple health problems decrease your quality of life and can be fatal.
