About 700,000 Americans each year suffer a new or recurrent Stroke. That means on average a Stroke occurs every 45 seconds. Stroke is the No. 3 cause of death behind heart disease and cancer and the nation's number one cause of adult disability. The risk of Stroke can be reduced through a greater awareness of Stroke warning signs and risk factors. Know the warning signs and call 911 IMMEDIATELY if  you or someone you know is experiencing any of these symptoms.

  • SUDDEN numbness or weakness of face, arm or legs especially on one side of the body
  • SUDDEN confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
  • SUDDEN trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • SUDDEN trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
  • SUDDEN severe headache with no known cause

  • Hypertension
  • Heart Disease (Atrial Fibrillation)
  • Smoking
  • High Cholesterol
  • Obesity
  • Inactive Lifestyle
  • Diabetes

Unmodifiable

  • Age

  • Prior Stroke
  • Family History

Regular check-ups to your Primary Care Physician can identify if you have risks factors  for stroke.
