Patients benefit from receiving as much outpatient care as possible under one roof. Thanks to the ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano ambulatory care center, providers are integrating primary care, specialty care, diagnostic tests and outpatient surgical procedures in a single, convenient, technologically-advanced setting.
“In our setting, healthcare is more convenient for our patients,” said surgery coordinator Jodi Zimmerman. “They can come here to see their doctor for a physical, schedule their colonoscopy, have lab work, have x-rays, and now, can undergo outpatient surgery. It’s kind of like ‘one stop shopping’ for people looking for good, quality, cost-effective healthcare. They no longer have to drive to Green Bay or the Fox Valley to have certain procedures done. The surgery center gives patients another choice within the community.”
More Progressive Procedures

Although ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano patients have been receiving endoscopic procedures since 2007, they were limited to local anesthetics delivered intravenously. Now, more progressive outpatient surgeries — such as vascular and other minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgeries — are performed on ideal candidates. The surgery center allows for anesthesiologist Paul Hoell, MD, and ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano’s three certified registered nurse anesthetists to administer general, spinal, epidural, and other anesthesia
