Approximately 40 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep disorders and another 20 to 30 million suffer intermittent sleep-related problems.
In Northeast Wisconsin the answer to diagnosing and treating a sleep disorder is the Sleep Disorders Center located at Theda Clark Medical Center .
Since 1990, the Sleep Disorders Center has been fully accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). The Sleep Disorders Center provides consultation visits with a Sleep Medicine Specialist and state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to help diagnose and treat sleep disorders. Fox Valley Pulmonary Medicine/Sleep Clinic and Theda Clark Medical Center Sleep Lab team up to provide these services in one convenient, comfortable location. Fox Valley Pulmonary Sleep Clinic physicians travel to New London, Shawano and Waupaca to bring care to patients on a regular basis.
The Theda Clark Medical Center Sleep Disorders Center is also a source for education, community events and programs such as the Awake, Well, and Keeping Energetic (AWAKE) support group.
AWAKE is a local educational and social support group for those who are diagnosed with sleep apnea. The AWAKE group, sponsored by ThedaCare At Home and the American Sleep Apnea Association, meets on a quarterly basis at Appleton Medical Center.
