CyberKnife combines two advanced technologies to fight tumors:
- A multi-jointed robotic arm. This arm moves around you and delivers a beam of radiation to specific areas of the body. The radiation can target tumors that cannot be treated with conventional radiosurgery systems.
- An image guidance system. This system continually monitors the tumor during treatment and corrects for your movements and breathing. This helps CyberKnife aim treatment in the exact location of the tumor, reducing the risk of damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
