What is a Robotic-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy?

A radical prostatectomy is the surgical removal of the prostate. It is considered one of the best ways to eradicate localized prostate cancer. A radical prostatectomy using the da Vinci robotic surgical system is the latest tool in the fight against prostate cancer. This type of procedure is called a robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy.

A robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy is minimally invasive surgery, resulting in reduced pain and shorter recovery times. It’s also the fastest growing treatment for prostate cancer today.

During the procedure, the surgeon will remove the entire prostate gland and both seminal vesicles.

Talk to your health care provider to determine if removal of the prostate using a robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy is your best treatment option.
