The DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet is a diet that:
- Is low in saturated fat, cholesterol, and total fat.
- Is rich in fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy foods.
- Reduces the salt and sodium in your diet by using reduced-sodium or no-salt-added foods and use less salt when you prepare foods. Do not add salt to your food at the table.
This combination of the DASH diet and reduced salt intake gives you the most benefit.
