Extended life expectancy for our nation's senior citizens has created an unprecedented demand for a variety of long term health care services. By 2030, it is estimated that about one in five Americans will be aged 65 or older according to the National Center for Assisted Living.
Assisted living is a long term care alternative for seniors who need more assistance than is available in a retirement community, but who do not require full-time nursing care. Many seniors relocate to an assisted living residence after a period of rehabilitation in a nursing home or hospital. However, nearly half come directly from their homes.
Assisted living residences are designed to meet the security, independence, privacy and companionship needs of their residents. They also provide physical and social well-being, key characteristics of an assisted living setting. Individuals receive supervision, personal care assistance, and health care services when they want and need them, giving them control of their lives.
Heritage Woods is an Assisted Living facility located adjacent to The Heritage Residential Living Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. Heritage Woods offers on-site skilled nursing assistance to residents who need some medical care support, but are still able to live independently.
The facility has a maximum capacity of 20 residents in 18 units with each unit having a private bath, bedroom and living area. The single story building is handicapped accessible and is designed specifically to accommodate the changing needs of residents as they age.
