ThedaCareNow.com will Provide Information on Key Health Topics

ThedaCare™ is launching a new web site – www.thedacarenow.org – to provide a one-stop community health resource where people can find information about major public health concerns, including the current H1N1 influenza pandemic. Sharing essential, up-to-date health information via the Web site is just another way ThedaCare is fulfilling its mission of improving the health of area residents.

The web site includes information from ThedaCare, state and national sources and will be separated into areas for the public and healthcare providers. There will be information about the signs and symptoms of the flu, updated vaccine information, guidelines about when to return to school or work, care tips and a frequently asked questions section.

“H1N1 information changes daily, sometimes even hourly so our goal was to create a site where it’s easy for people to find an answer to their questions,” said Tracey Froiland, ThedaCare’s H1N1 coordinator and a registered nurse. “It’s essential to get the correct information in a timely manner out to the public and web sites are a great way to communicate to a lot of people.”

ThedaCare staff members will keep the web site updated with information from state and national sources in addition to what’s happening locally, Froiland said.

“While we are using the site now for getting out news about H1N1, www.thedacarenow.org is an excellent communication tool going forward as a place where we can share information about public health concerns,” she said.

ThedaCare (www.thedacare.org) is a community-owned health system consisting of Appleton Medical Center, Theda Clark Medical Center, New London Family Medical Center, Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, ThedaCare Physicians, Ingenuity First, and other health care services. ThedaCare is the largest employer in Northeast Wisconsin with nearly 5,400 employees.
