Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.'s) are physicians fully trained to diagnose illness, prescribe drugs and perform surgery. The federal government and the American Medical Association recognize D.O.s and M.D.s as equals. D.O.s, like M.D.s are licensed to provide comprehensive medical care in all 50 states.
