ThedaStar has developed a regionalized outreach program. The intention of this program is to keep everyone up-to-date on the latest guidelines for patient care and utilization of air medical transport.
Educational offerings include landing zone setup and safety as well as helicopter utilization and safety guidelines. Our goal is to provide these presentations to every agency within our primary service area on an annual basis.
Each of our flight nurses has taken responsibility for a separate section of our service area. Letters were mailed initially in February 2006 and reminders will be sent out in Spring 2007. This letter will identify the flight nurse responsible for your region. If you have any educational and training needs, this person will be your primary contact. If for some reason you are unable to make contact with this person, please feel free to call our communications center at (920) 729-2114 or e-mail thedastar@thedacare.org. If your agency has not been contacted about educational opportunities, please contact us and we will be glad to assist you.
If you are interested in an educational program or public relations visit with the helicopter at an event, please contact ThedaStar Communications at (920) 729-2114 or via e-mail at thedastar@thedacare.org. Educational opportunities available include, but are not limited to:
- Air Medical Utilization
- Helicopter Safety
- Landing Zone Set-up and Safety.
Please read our guidelines for inviting ThedaStar to events: Helicopter Attendance at Public Relations Events.
Educational programs are tailored to your needs. For pre-hospital providers utilizing ThedaStar for scene responses, the education should include indications on utilization of the helicopter for scene responses as well as information on landing zone selection, setup and safety guidelines. Presentations to hospital staff may include information about scene responses, inter-facility transport guidelines and trauma center transfer criteria. These programs are designed to answer questions you may have regarding ThedaStar Air Medical, The Trauma Center at Theda Clark, trauma center classifications and trauma patient destination guidelines.
Flight nurses are also available to speak to community groups. Information presented will be tailored to your needs. Some common topics include:
- information on air medical transport and flight nursing
- safety and injury prevention
- information and history about ThedaStar
We also provide landing zone security training for personnel providing security at hospital landing zones.
Presentations are available free of charge to agencies within our response area. We encourage all agencies to contact us on an annual basis to arrange for continuing education regarding helicopter utilization, helicopter safety and landing zone setup and safety.
