Due to the large amount of prospective radiography students applying for job shadows, the Theda Clark School of Radiologic Technology has a job shadow policy for the safety and confidentiality of our patients.
Shadows will only be given under any of the following circumstances:
- High school students who have attended an informational session or have had an instructor visit their class. They will also need to complete a job shadow application along with the essay prior to the program offering a shadow.
- To radiology school applicants who submit a completed program application, which includes mandatory attendance of informational session.
Upon review of applications, applicants will be notified if they will be scheduled for a shadow.
If accepted into the shadow program, we will require proof of the following immunizations for the safety of our patients:
Your family doctor's office should have immunization records. You will also be required to sign a confidentiality form stating that everything you will see must be in strict confidentiality for the privacy of our patient
If the applicant is denied a shadow opportunity, he/she will be advised as to what he/she would need to do to better their chances of acceptance into the program in the future.
We recommend shadowing more than one facility to be sure this is the career for you. This is not a requirement but if you would choose to and you are accepted into the program, you have the option to shadow at Theda Clark Medical Center and/or Appleton Medical Center. Any other non-ThedaCare facility shadow will need to be set-up through that hospital by the prospective student. Most organizations welcome students in their research.
We apologize for any inconvenience but feel that this will be in the best interest of our patients.
