Prepared and Ready for Parenthood
Becoming a mom is a wonderful, life-changing time, but there can be a lot to learn before you meet the new addition to your family. At times, it may feel overwhelming to think about what you need to know before you give birth, especially if this is your first time. That’s why ThedaCare offers prenatal classes to help you and your partner prepare for all the stages of parenthood, from labor and delivery to breastfeeding and baby care.
Talk to your doctor about the types of classes available, and which ones would be best for you. Classes offer flexible scheduling to meet your lifestyle—you can take classes on weekends or in the evenings, in person or online.

Childbirth Preparation (Four-Week Series)
Meeting once a week for 2 1/2 hours, this four-week evening series helps you understand the labor and delivery process and learn about relaxation and breathing strategies, pain management options, Cesarean birth, and immediate postpartum care.
Childbirth Preparation (One-Day Express Class)
If you don’t have time for a longer series of classes, you can learn everything you need to know in one session. Our day-long express class covers the stages of labor, the birth process, coping skills, relaxation and breathing techniques, pain management options, Cesarean birth, and immediate postpartum care.
Childbirth Preparation (One-Night Refresher Class)
Even if this isn’t your first pregnancy, it’s still a good idea to get a little refresher. Update your knowledge of the labor and delivery experience, review relaxation and breathing techniques, and learn about sibling preparation.
E-Learning Childbirth Education: The Gift of Motherhood
This complete, online childbirth education program, which includes animated illustrations, videos, and interactive tools, takes you from pregnancy through childcare. You can begin this 90-day course whenever you want—simply enter the code you receive when you register to get started.

Teen Pregnancy Program
This free series is offered to expecting teenagers and helps prepare mom and her partner or birth coach for childbirth and motherhood. You can call our confidential phone line at 920-729-2926 to register.
Taught by a certified lactation specialist, this class explains the advantages of breastfeeding for both you and your baby, and helps you learn about proper positioning and breastfeeding techniques, breast pump options, milk storage, and back-to-work strategies.

Hello Brother, Hello Sister: Sibling Class
Does Your Baby Come with a Handbook?
For siblings ages 3–9, this one-hour class helps children welcome their new brother or sister.
Still adjusting to life with a newborn? In this class, a doctor discusses common questions and issues facing new parents in their first months with a little one.
Mom and Me Club
Life with a newborn is intriguing. Network in a casual setting with other moms and hear guest speakers present topics relevant to new parents. Tending to the needs of your baby is encouraged, and there will be a lactation consultant on hand to answer any questions you may have. ThedaCare classes will be held weekly in the Birchwood Room at Appleton Medical Center on Mondays from 1-2:30 p.m. (except near holidays). No fee. Registration not required. CPR Family and Friends (Totsaver)
For you and others responsible for your baby’s care, this class explains how to respond to emergency events like choking, cardiac arrest, and respiratory arrest in infants and children. Call ThedaCare On Call at 920-830-6877 or 800-236-2236 to register.
There is no additional charge to bring your partner or birth coach with you to classes, and it’s helpful when you can both learn together. Classes held at our birth centers are typically taught in a classroom environment, and may include power points, slide presentations, videos, and interactive games.
