Ornaments on Sale for Riverside Medical Center’s Holiday Tree

The Auxiliary of Riverside Medical Center (RMC) is inviting the public to share in its annual “Lights of Love” fundraiser. People may purchase ornaments in honor or memory of a loved one. The ornaments will adorn the hospital’s Christmas tree, which is on display in the main lobby.

Red cardinals honor those living, while white doves memorialize those who have passed, said Andi Crane, RMC’s volunteer coordinator.

“This program was started by the auxiliary in 1987 and is a way to honor or remember loved ones who have touched our lives,” said Crane. “People can come in and fill out a brochure with the person’s name, and an ornament with their name will be hung on the tree.”

The brochures are available in the lobby and gift shop. Each ornament may be purchased for a donation of $3 or more. Ornaments for military service men and women will be marked with an American flag

Money raised from the fundraiser will benefit several hospital programs, including the RMC Employee Assistance Program; the CPR program; the child safety seat occupant identification program known as W.H.A.L.E. (We Have a Little Emergency); the Riverside Foundation Golf Outing; and the Safe Sitter program. Supplemental funds are being provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

The decorated tree will remain on display through Jan. 1.
