Community Classes offer Support, Sharing, and Tips on Infant Care
Riverside Medical Center’s (RMC) Maternal Child Health Department is offering a pair of new baby support classes for parents.
Registered nurse Sandy Testin, who will lead the free classes, will offer tips and advice on baby care, answer questions, and encourage participants to share their own experiences.
“These classes are a great opportunity for parents to get helpful information and support,” said Testin, who is also a certified lactation consultant. “We offer a relaxed, social atmosphere where parents can meet and share with other parents who are experiencing the same joys and concerns of caring for a baby.”
The classes are as follows:
“Signing with Your Hearing Infant”
Thurs., Feb. 2, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Location: First United Methodist Church, 8th St. and Park Ave., Waupaca.
Join guest speaker Casey Danielson who will teach parents how to communicate with their infants using sign language.
Thurs., Feb. 16, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Location: First United Methodist Church
Learn the gentle techniques of infant massage as a relaxing way to sooth and bond with your baby.
For mothers-to-be, ThedaCare also offers “E-Learning Childbirth Education: The Gift of Motherhood.” This complete, online childbirth education program is a great alternative for those who cannot attend conventional childbirth classes. The web-based program includes animated illustrations, videos, and interactive tools and takes participants from pregnancy through childcare. Those who enroll can learn at their own pace from the convenience of home, and have 90 days to complete the course. To register, call (800) 236-2236.
