Courses Help Those with Memory Loss and Chronic Conditions
Riverside Medical Center (RMC) is hosting a six-week workshop for people living with chronic conditions, along with weekly classes designed to help those with memory loss.
Meeting of the Minds
This memory enhancement program, held each Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. at RMC’s Maasch Education Center, is designed for people with mild memory loss. The class is ongoing, and participants are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they like. There is a $5 fee per class.
Each class features stimulating activities, intellectual exercises, and tai chi or other gentle exercises. The goal is to help people who are experiencing memory impairment make a positive impact in their lives, offering education, support and engaging activities that promote brain health. The classes are designed to be fun, relaxed and social.
Living with Chronic Conditions
This six-week workshop, designed for people with chronic health conditions, teaches participants how to maintain a positive outlook and develop coping strategies for their specific disease. The workshop builds confidence around managing health, staying active, and enjoying life. Classes are social and interactive, and participants are encouraged to share their successes and support one another.
The classes are planned for six consecutive Tuesdays from Jan. 3 to Feb. 7, 2012. Each class will run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Maasch Education Center. A $10 fee covers all six sessions.
Registration is required for both programs, which are offered by Bethany Outreach Services of Waupaca. To register or to find out more information, call Debra Brunner at (715) 942-1437.
