Michael Polka, MD, Joins Hospital Staff in Appleton
Appleton Medical Center is pleased to announce that Michael Polka, MD, has joined its staff as an emergency medicine physician.
Dr. Polka earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and received his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He completed his residency training at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he was named chief resident. Dr. Polka served as a physician in the emergency department and as the associate medical director at the Swedish American Hospital. His work experience also includes educator, researcher and advisory positions and he is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
Dedicated to outreach efforts, Dr. Polka has participated in nine medical missions to the mountains of Haiti with the team from Friends of the Children and received a humanitarian award for his work there. He has also been actively involved as a panel expert for community stroke awareness.
Hoping to share in his patients’ joys and be there to help them in their time of sorrow, Dr. Polka brings compassion and understanding to his role in emergency medicine.
