Paul Smullen, MD, joins staff as hospitalist
ThedaCare Physicians-Waupaca and Riverside Medical Center welcome Paul Smullen, MD, as a hospitalist.
A hospitalist is a medical specialist who provides medical care to patients while they are in the hospital. Because the hospitalist doesn’t have a private practice, they can devote their time to caring for patients while they are in Riverside Medical Center. The hospitalists manage and coordinate patient care, working closely with their primary care physician.
Board-certified through the American Board of Family Practice, Dr. Smullen has special interest providing care in the hospital setting. He earned his undergraduate degree from Miami University of Ohio, his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and completed his residency at the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley Family Medicine.
A thorough clinician who takes a team approach to hospital care, Dr. Smullen strives for a successful transition from the hospital to the primary care provider.
