Facilities that Help Diagnose Neurological Disorders Receive National Honor
Appleton Medical Center (AMC) and Theda Clark Medical Center labs that help diagnose neurological disorders recently earned national accreditation.
The American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) gave a five-year accreditation to the hospitals’ electroencephalography (EEG) laboratories. ABRET evaluates technical standards, the quality of the laboratory’s output and lab management issues.
Neurodiagnostics Medical Director Ryan Zantow, MD, said the accreditation means the EEG lab meets strict standards and is recognized as a place where patients and physicians feel confident receiving quality diagnostics for epilepsy, focal brain disturbances, space-occupying lesions, and vascular disorders.
“This accreditation is one of many steps in our commitment to excellence,” he said. “We will continue to work hard to ensure delivery of world-class neurodiagnostic services to our communities.”
Dr. Zantow said the accreditation means tests performed at AMC and Theda Clark have enhanced credibility when data is sent to outside institutions or used in court. The ABRET certification also lets patients and providers know the lab meets established standards and has a reputation for integrity.
