Awards will recognize a person, group and business making a healthy difference

The Wolf River Area Healthcare Foundation (WRAHF) is accepting nominations for its first ever Healthcare Hero Awards. The awards, which recognize efforts that advance the health of communities served by New London Family Medical Center (NLFMC), will be presented on Sept. 18 at the foundation’s 9th annual dinner.

“Our community is full of everyday heroes,” said Rita Thiel, WRAHF board member and Healthcare Hero Awards chair. “We want to honor people and organizations that solve health problems and make this area a better, healthier place to live.”

One Healthcare Hero Award will be presented in each of three categories: Business, Group and Individual. Recipients will demonstrably improve community health; encourage or foster innovation, education and wellness; exemplify best practices; solve a community health problem; demonstrate commitment to the community; and impact lives.

To qualify for an award, individuals, groups and businesses must live or be based in Clintonville, Hortonville, Manawa, Marion, New London, Shiocton or Weyauwega. Individual nominees need not be directly employed in healthcare. Nomination deadline is Aug. 24.

A nomination form and additional information are available online at or by calling WRAHF assistant Meadow Dorsey at (920) 531-2066. Questions may also be directed to Thiel at (920) 982-4410.
