Integrated Heart Services Offer Patients Improved Quality Care
ThedaCare and Appleton Cardiology Associates (ACA) are strengthening their decades-long partnership through full integration of the ACA practice into ThedaCare as of Dec. 31, 2010. This new relationship will improve the already high quality of cardiovascular care, offering patients easier access to their physicians and enhanced services.
“Both ThedaCare and Appleton Cardiology Associates are thrilled to provide our patients the exceptional heart care they deserve under a business model that improves value,” said Kathryn Correia, ThedaCare Senior Vice President and President of Appleton Medical Center (AMC) and Theda Clark Medical Center.
ACA Chairman Peter Ackell, MD, agrees. “The integration of our practice with the ThedaCare organization brings together the area’s best cardiovascular resources and technology to the benefit of our patients,” he said.
In the agreement, ThedaCare will acquire ACA’s assets and employ the practice’s 16 physicians, seven nurse practitioners and physician assistants, and 110 staff members. In addition, ACA will continue to operate its full-time offices at AMC and Theda Clark, plus its satellite clinics in Berlin, Chilton, Clintonville, Keshena, New London, Oshkosh, Green Bay, Ripon, Shawano, Waupaca and Wild Rose.
Patients will still see their doctors and other healthcare providers in the same location. Because ACA’s staff members will become ThedaCare employees, patients will benefit from more coordinated services, which will improve health services and outcomes. ACA and ThedaCare have been the regional leader in heart care since the 1960s when together they created the Appleton Heart Institute, the first heart program north of Milwaukee. Fully uniting the two groups’ resources offers greater stability in the face of ongoing healthcare reform and a more patient-centered experience.
“This integration enhances ThedaCare’s and ACA’s market-leading cardiovascular services so that patients receive seamless care through every step of diagnosis and treatment,” Correia said. “This improved coordination of care will provide improved outcomes for patients.”
