I really enjoy October in Wisconsin. It’s a month of transitions – going from summer to fall. As I read the news yesterday, I realized that October will be a time of new transitions for everyone in healthcare – patients and providers. New provisions of the healthcare reform law kick in that may mean changes for your healthcare insurance and the care you receive.
Whether you call it Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act, there’s a lot of confusion. First, let me assure you, your friends at ThedaCare will be with you every step of the way to make sure you have all the information or the resources you need to make the best decisions for you and your family.
One of the main reasons for passing the healthcare reform law was to help healthcare systems deliver higher quality care to you at a lower cost. ThedaCare has been a leader in healthcare reform for years, adopting the building blocks for preventive care, wellness and coordinated care 10 years ago.
We’ve also implemented tools like Electronic Medical Records (EMR), our after-visit summary, hospital care focused on teamwork and smooth transitions, and a medical home approach to primary care, to give you a better experience. We want you to have care that’s more convenient and less costly, where you have more input on your own treatment and greater peace of mind. We’re already about helping you get and stay healthy.
So this fall as you watch the leaves go from green to gold, remember that you also need to make decisions about transitioning your health insurance coverage. Watch for more information to help you with the changes in coming weeks. You’ll also find more information at www.thedacare.org and http://e4healthwi.org.
