Want to help build a great hospital?

Not literally, of course. Boldt Builders, the general contractor in charge of building ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano, is handling that role nicely.

But building a great hospital – that is something we all can help do.

The Shawano Medical Center Foundation, a part of the ThedaCare Family of Foundations, launched the “Living Well Together” campaign in 2013 to help create not just a modern, efficient hospital, but one where the patients feel reassured as soon as they walk onto the grounds. They want to be able to include the beauty and the technology that create a healing environment.

To make this possible, the Foundation pledged a match of $500,000 toward a capital campaign. This means that for every dollar donated by a community member, the Foundation will add its own. That makes one dollar, two dollars; and a half a million dollars, a million.

The campaign has been launched and progress has been wonderful.  First to make their pledges of support were Anita Hartman and Dan and Diane Hartwig. A big thank you for getting the ball rolling! Since those first two pledges, the response has been very gratifying – a heart-warming outpouring of support.

Their donations, and the others in this campaign, will support a courtyard garden in the center of the new building. It will support a healing arts program, bringing in the culturally appropriate decorations and distractions.

The campaign will fund improvements to the ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano main entrance, providing more protection from the elements. Finally, the campaign will allow Shawano Medical Center to adopt a state-of-the-art nurse call program that will shorten the time between a patient’s request and the nurse’s response.

In a little over a year from now, Shawano will be the home of a great new hospital. Let’s build it together.
