The crews at the ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano are getting themselves prepared for the harsh winter weather conditions. Enclosure of the building exterior is nearing completion. The roofers were back on site to complete the remaining roofing for the addition, and the masons are focused on the few areas where the brick veneer has not been installed yet.

If everything goes as planned, the entire addition should be weather-tight by the end of the month. Along with completing the building enclosure, there are a number of other things going on around the site to prepare for winter. To keep materials and workers warm throughout winter, temporary heaters have been set up throughout the building. To make snow removal easier, crews have removed material that is no longer needed on site, and have reorganized the material storage areas that will remain.  Material deliveries are also being scheduled as “just in time” deliveries. This means when materials are delivered, they are being installed as soon as possible to avoid the need for large storage areas on site.

Making these preparations ahead of time will allow the job site to function more efficiently throughout winter.
